Passive Smoking And Fatherhood

Most often, many people are concerned about this question: How exactly does cigarette smoke affect the body? On this and will be discussed further. We'll tell you in detail about the various health problems that may arise due to passive smoking - cardiovascular disease and cancer to asthma education and sudden infant death syndrome.
Doctors have long known about the harmful effects that smoking can have on men's health - smokers often suffer from genital function. But as it turned out, and passive smoking can also cause a persistent deterioration in sperm quality.
American scientists in laboratory experiments with mice failed to prove not only that passive smoking leads to a significant reduction in sperm count, poor motility and viability - a new study found an even more dire effects: passive smoking damages sperm DNA, and such damage can be transmitted inherited.
Researchers from the National Research Laboratory Lawrence Berkeley in California (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California) for two weeks every 32 male mice exposed to tobacco smoke during different periods of time, the maximum exposure time was 1.5 hours per day.
Six weeks after the end of the experiment, the researchers examined the semen of the experimental animals. In the control group, animals from which are not exposed to tobacco smoke, the number of DNA mutations in sperm did not exceed 1.3% -1.5%.
In the experimental group, animals which were subjected to conditions of passive smoking in low and high doses, the number of mutations was 2.6% and 4.6% respectively.
"Although in our experiment, the study was conducted in mice, would be appropriate to advise and young men who plan to become fathers, so they avoided the maximum exposure to tobacco smoke, and if they smoke, it would be prudent to completely give up cigarettes for at least 3 months before alleged conception "- indicates Professor Francesco Marchetti (Francesco Marchetti), who led the research.
